 2010 Annual Awards Competitions for Voice
50^th Year

  - awards of $1000 to upwards of $8000 in three divisions -
[There are some changes from previous applications.]

General Opera Division
Requirements: 5 operatic arias (in at least 3 languages)
Age limits: 20-35 years as of 1/1/2010

Wagner Division
Requirements: 5 arias (at least 4 by Wagner)
 Age limits: 25-45 years as of 1/1/2010

Bass-Baritones are eligible to compete for the Norman Carlberg Prize and must offer repertoire appropriate to that Fach.

Competition Dates
Area contestants (Tri-state, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. areas)
January 11 - January 15th, 2010

Contestants from outside the above areas - January 14 & 15th, 2010

Finals – Saturday, January 16, 2010

Lieder/Art Song Division

Requirements: 5 art songs written for voice and piano including at least 3 in German, 1 of which must be by Schubert.
If you wish, you may offer an additional (6th) song outside these parameters, such as an a cappella piece, or a song for voice and orchestra.
Age Limits: 18-30 years as of 1/1/2010

Competition Dates
Area contestants (Tri-state, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. areas)
January 18 - January 22, 2010

Contestants from outside the above areas - January 21 & 22, 2010

Finals – Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

A small group of finalists will be selected to perform in a public Finals Concert on Saturday evening, January 17th at which time the prizewinners will be selected.
